QAA is an archery club for beginning and experienced youth recurve
archers. The club was founded over 15 years ago by Ralph Miles
for Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD).
The club meets on Saturday mornings from 9-11 a.m. The indoor
season lasts from the middle of September to the beginning of
April and the meeting place is the Bull
Run Shooting Center archery range. The outdoor season
lasts from the middle of April to the end of July and the meeting
place is the Arlington/Fairfax Izaak Walton League. Membership
in the IWLA is recommended for the youth division and mandatory
for adult members who wish to participate in the outdoor season.
No experience is necessary. Queen Ann Archers has several USA
Archery certified Basic, Intermediate and Community coaches. Equipment
is offered during the indoor season for a small ($2/session) rental
fee. Range fees are $5/session. The cost to join the club is $30/year
for and individual or $50/year for a family. Members are expected
to have personal safety equipment consisting of a quiver, arm
guard, finger tab, sling, and exercise band. The club maintains
a supply of essential equipment and offers a package that also
includes a team t-shirt for approximately $53.
Queen Ann Archers is a competition club. We offer individual incentives
for improving performance and we strongly encourage members to
participate in local and away tournaments. The indoor season culminates
with the USA Archery National Indoor tournament that takes place
in Harrisonburg, Virginia, mid-March. The outdoor season culminates
with the Commonwealth Games that take place in Roanoke, Virginia,
mid-July. We also sponsor several local tournaments and our members
participate in several tournaments in Reading, PA.
